Welcome to the data management portal displaying results from testing the PRAGA methodology. The portal is developed as part of the project ‘participatory assessment of land degradation and sustainable land management in grassland and pastoral systems’ that is testing a draft methodology for assessing rangeland and grassland health.
The PRAGA methodology is designed to assess rangeland and grassland health with enough flexibility to adapt to specific contexts and countries. A core component of the methodology is participation by relevant stakeholders at different stages. The methodology considers both scientific and local knowledge and is supported by a number of core representative indicators. Information generated from the methodology guides the day-to-day decision-making by land users and guides investment and planning by local and national governments.

The 5 pilot countries where the PRAGA methodology was tried and tested were: Kenya, Niger and Burkina Faso in Africa; Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia; and Uruguay in South America.
